When it Comes To Weight Loss, The
"Healthy Foods" Conversation Is A Distraction - Position Statement
The First Law Of Thermodynamics, which holds everywhere in the known universe, clearly states that weight loss occurs whenever energy output exceeds energy intake.
This is true regardless of
the diet’s macronutrient mixture, i.e., no matter what one eats, as long as
the Calories in are less than the Calories out, one MUST lose weight.
There is no choice.
To believe otherwise is insane.
When it comes to weight, health is defined by a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9.
When it comes to weight loss, all that matters is the relationship between Calories in and Calories out.
There is nothing about weight loss that has to do with so-called "healthy foods."
In fact, "healthy food" is a concept without definition or certainty.
And the "healthfulness" of a food may change as new data are discovered.
Clearly, one day's "healthy food" may be tomorrow's "unhealthy food."
Further, one amount of a food may be "healthy" and another amount "unhealthy."
The bottom line is that even if it were possible to determine whether a food is "healthy" or not, this bears no relationship to the number of Calories one should consume in order to lose weight.
And weight loss is all about Calories.
Anything else is a distraction.

I stand in opposition to any weight loss conversation that wrongly focuses on "healthy foods" over Calories in and Calories out.
I expect the following from you:
A clear and immediate public declaration that for weight loss, all that matters is consuming fewer Calories than are burned
A clear and immediate public declaration that the "healthy foods" conversation is a distraction from the real matter
Action without delay to prevent the advertising of foods as "healthy," since this is currently unknowable, undefined and misleading
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
