There is no other cause and there can be no other cause.
All weight gain and all weight loss are governed by the First Law of Thermodynamics.
There is no biologic, infectious, hormonal, genetic or other process that can ever alter this.
No more than any biologic, infectious, hormonal, genetic or other process can alter gravity.
Overweight and obesity are not medical problems.
They may be math problems, they may be physics problems, but they are clearly not medical problems.
Despite this, there is a push for sick care to "cure" overweight and obesity.
Since there is no significant medical cause for overweight and obesity, there can be no medical solution.
Pursuing a medical solution is a waste of time, effort and resources.
Even more than medicine's failure to cure cancer, will be medicine's failure to solve the matters of overweight and obesity.
