Expert Diet Advice Causes Diet
Failure - Position Statement
Virtually all expert diets are based on the assumption that a 3500 - 7000 Calorie deficit per week will yield a safe 1 - 2 pound weight loss.
This is mathematically, physically, physiologically and biologically impossible.
Virtually all expert diets suggest that daily caloric reductions of 500 - 1000 Calories are "easy," "moderate" or "simple."
This, too, is untrue.
The result of these lies are diet recommendations for daily caloric intakes that are in the range of starvation.
Except for idiots, masochists and the very determined, no one is willing to starve long enough to lose the amount of weight they desire.
Expert diet advice starves dieters into failure.
NAAAFP is in favor of rational diet programs that recommend reducing no more than between 125 - 250 Calories per day at the outset.

Expert diet advice starves dieters into failure.
I stand in opposition to any diet advice based on the faulty 500 - 1000 Calorie per day reduction and any diet where consuming fewer Calories than the Basal Metabolic Rate is recommended.
I am in favor of rational diet programs that recommend reducing no more than between 125 - 250 Calories per day at the outset.
I expect the following from you:
A clear and immediate public declaration that expert diet advice causes diet failure
A clear and immediate public declaration that a Calorie restricting diet that recommends caloric intakes of less than the BMR is harmful
A clear and immediate public declaration demanding that the FTC investigate all diets that recommend caloric intakes of less than the BMR or are based on the 3500/7000 Calories per week reduction scheme
A clear and immediate public declaration demanding that the FTC investigate any person, publisher or media that has been involved in any way with a diet that recommends caloric intakes of less than the BMR or are based on the 3500/7000 Calories per week reduction scheme
A clear and immediate public declaration that neither the government nor its agencies should advocate reducing daily caloric intake by more than 125 - 250 Calories at the outset of a diet
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
